La norme d'émetteur-récepteur optique QSFP28 est conçue pour transporter des signaux Ethernet 100 Gigabit, EDR InfiniBand ou Fibre Channel 32G. Ce type d'émetteur-récepteur est également utilisé avec des câbles de dérivation à connexion directe pour adapter un port 100GbE unique à quatre ports Ethernet 25 Gigabit indépendants (QSFP28 vers 4x SFP28).
